We’ve had a fairly long stretch of hot and humid weather here in Cape Breton recently, and so there’s seemingly always a need to cool down! Some of our preferred ways involve jumping in Bras d’Or lake, sitting in front of a fan, and drinking smoothies! This smoothie is a favorite for this time of year with plenty of mint growing in the gardens.
Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie
- Frozen banana chunks
- Plant-based milk (we used almond but use your fav!)
- Handful of fresh mint
- Ice cubes
- Cacao nibs
- Optional: A little maple syrup for extra sweetness
Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Add in cacao nibs and blend quickly just to incorporate. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
*If you want an even stronger minty taste you can add a bit of mint flavoring (or do this if you don’t have mint in the garden!) Amounts for each ingredient really vary with your own taste and how thick or think or sweet you’d like the smoothie to be. Hot weather is calling you to experiment! 🙂
